Viral Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit III

The Viral Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit III was designed specifically for simultaneous virus DNA/RNA purification from cell-free samples such as serum, plasma, body fluids and the supernatant of viral infected cell cultures (H1N1, HIV/AIDS, HPV, HBV, etc.). The method is comprised of concentrating viral particles from serum, lysis of viral particles, viral DNA/RNA binding to the surface of the glass fiber membrane, and releasing of DNA/RNA into the release buffer. 101-109 copies of viral DNA/RNA can be purified from 1 ml of serum within 1 hour. The purified viral DNA/RNA can be used directly in qPCR and qRT-PCR assays.

Quantitation of Viral DNA/RNA Purified Using the Viral Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit

Real-time qPCR and 1-step qRT-PCR reactions were conducted to evaluate the performance of Geneaid’s Viral Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit. HBV (DNA), HCV (RNA), HIV (RNA), and HTLV (RNA) were purified from 200 µl of positive clinical serum samples. The reactions were conducted using the ABI 7300 Sequence Detection System. Blood samples containing various amounts of DNA/RNA viruses ranging from 1 x E2 to 1 x E6 copies/ml were successfully detected and identified.
